Lüneburger Heide is a purple landscape, carpeted in the heather plant. Set in Northern Germany, this heathland sits between Hamburg, Bremen and Hanover. It is a beautiful area to explore for hikers and cyclists.

warst du schon einmal in der Lüneburger Heide? Dort fahre ich gerade mit zwei Freunden hin. Es ist eine flache, nur leicht hügelige Landschaft mit sandigem Boden. Hier wächst vor allem Heidekraut. Im August blüht das Heidekraut lila. Ich sitze mit meinen Freunden im Auto und gucke aus dem Fenster. Dann sehe ich ein Straßenschild. Auf dem Schild steht: Undeloh 3km. Super, das heißt, wir sind gleich da. Ein paar Minuten später steigen wir aus dem Auto aus.
Wir gehen wandern. Die Wanderung soll ungefähr 4 Stunden dauern. Zuerst gehen wir durch das Dorf. Hier sehe ich ein paar alte Bauernhöfe. Wir kommen zu einem Café. Hinter dem Café startet der Wanderweg. Während der Wanderung sehe ich alte Hütten aus Holz auf den Feldern. Neben einer Hütte stehen Schafe und ein Mann. Er ist Schäfer und sein Hund springt glücklich um die Schafe herum.
Der höchste Berg in der Landschaft ist eher ein kleiner Hügel. Der Wilseder Berg ist nur 169 Meter hoch. Trotzdem kann ich von hier aus in allen Richtungen lila Heidelandschaft sehen. Von dem Aussichtspunkt auf dem Berg gehen wir zurück in Richtung Parkplatz.
Zwischendurch machen wir kurze Pausen – entweder zum Essen und Trinken oder zum Fotografieren. Einer meiner Freunde hat seine Kamera dabei. Er fotografiert sehr gerne und viele seiner Fotos sehen toll aus. Jetzt geht er gerade vom Weg runter und stellt sich hinter einen kleinen Busch. Er guckt durch die Kamera und fokussiert eine alte Holzhütte. Ich bin gespannt darauf, wie das Foto aussehen wird.

Have you ever been to the Lüneburger Heide? I’m going there right now with two friends. It’s a flat, only slightly hilly landscape with sandy soil. Mostly heather grows here. In August, the heather blossoms purple. I sit in the car with my friends and look out of the window. Then I see a road sign. The sign says: Undeloh 3km. Great, that means we are almost there. A few minutes later we get out of the car.
We go for a hike. The hike should take about 4 hours. First we walk through the village. Here I see a few old farms. We come to a café. Behind the café the hiking trail starts. During the walk I see old wooden huts in the fields. Next to one hut there are sheep and a man. He is a shepherd and his dog is happily jumping around the sheep.
The highest mountain in the landscape is more like a small hill. The Wilseder Berg is only 169 metres high. Nevertheless, from here I can see purple moorland in all directions. From the view point on the mountain we walk back towards the car park.
In between we take short breaks – either to eat and drink or to take pictures. One of my friends has his camera with him. He likes to take photos and many of his photos look great. Now he is walking off the path and stands behind a small bush. He looks through the camera and puts on an old wooden hut in focus. I am curious to see what the photo will look like.
