Michael

Podcast Translation

I went to Flensburg by car on the weekend. There I met a friend who is studying in Flensburg. Flensburg is the most northern city in Germany.

We went for a short walk through the city. In Flensburg there are several very beautiful streets with old shops. There is also the Flensburg Foerde. A Förde is the same as a fjord: a long and narrow bay of sea that reaches far inland. In this case, the water reaches all the way into the centre of Flensburg, where many sailing boats are moored in the harbour.

An hour later we took the bus to the beach in Solitüde. While getting on the bus, I bought a ticket. My buddy just showed the bus driver his student ID. When you study in Germany, you get a bus ticket for the region at the same time.

After half an hour, we got off the bus and went to the beach. From the beach, I could see Denmark on the other side of the water. Denmark is only a little more than 2 kilometres away. After 3 hours on the beach and a bottle of beer, we went back to the bus stop. Luckily I didn’t get sunburnt.

My buddy has often told me about his favourite pizzeria. They say it has the best pizza in Flensburg. That’s why we bought a pizza in the evening. We picked it up, sat down by the harbour and ate the pizza.

Greetings from Flensburg
Michael
