Set within the German state of Saxony, the Dresden name descended from the Slavic word for ‘woodland’.
Dresden has been well known as a city of artistic and cultural splendor due to the residency of many monarchs throughout history. The city is known as the ‘jewel box’ due to its’ highly ornate baroque-style city centre.
The Dresden ‘Strielzelmarkt’ Christmas market is one of the biggest in the whole of Germany , and considered one of the first genuine Christmas markets in the world.

Es ist traurig zu sehen, dass der Sommer zu Ende geht, aber ich hoffe, du hast den Sonnenschein genossen!
Ich möchte Dir gerne erzählen, wo ich heute bin. Ich bin in Dresden; was für ein schöner und entspannender Ort!
Am Dienstag bin ich nach Dresden gefahren und verbringe ein paar Nächte in einem Hotel. In der Nähe von dem Hotel befinden sich die grünen Gärten des Zwingers.
Das Wetter ist heute sonnig, keine einzige Wolke in Sicht, nur ein strahlend blauer Himmel. Ideale Bedingungen für ein Eis und einen gemütlichen Spaziergang zur Besichtigung der Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Diese Stadt hat eine erstaunliche Architektur im Barockstil, hier lieben sie ihre Statuen und Wasserfontänen. Dresden hat schon immer eine große kreative Gemeinschaft von Künstlern und Musikern gehabt & ich kann sehen, warum; dieser Ort verstrahlt so ein warmes, inspirierendes Gefühl. Die Kunstgalerien, Museen, dekorativen Torbögen und Geigenspieler auf der Straße lassen diesen ganzen Ort so romantisch erscheinen.
Die Elbe trennt in der Stadt die Altstadt von der Neustadt. Wie du auf meinen Fotos sehen kannst, ist der Fluss breit und besonders am Abend bezaubernd, wenn er die Lichter der Stadt reflektiert.
Jeden Abend sitzen viele Menschen am Flussufer, treffen sich mit Freunden, genießen den Sonnenschein, machen Musik oder gehen in das nahe gelegene Freiluftkino.
Ich wünschte, ich könnte länger hier bleiben, aber nächste Woche muss ich wieder zur Arbeit!
Wir können uns gerne treffen, wenn ich wieder in Hamburg bin. Ich würde dir gerne mehr erzählen!

It’s sad to see summer come to an end, but I hope you enjoyed the sunshine!
I would like to tell you where I am today. I am in Dresden; what a beautiful and relaxing place!
I went to Dresden on Tuesday and am spending a couple of nights in a hotel. Near the hotel are the green gardens of the Zwinger.
The weather is sunny today, not a cloud in sight, just a bright blue sky. Ideal conditions for an ice cream and a leisurely walk to see the sights.
This city has amazing baroque style architecture, here they love their statues and water fountains. Dresden has always had a great creative community of artists and musicians & I can see why; this place gives off such a warm, inspiring feeling. The art galleries, museums, decorative archways & violin players on the street make this whole place seem so romantic.
In the city, the Elbe River separates the Old Town from the New Town. As you can see from my photos, the river is wide and especially charming in the evening when it reflects the lights of the city.
Every evening, many people sit on the riverbank, meeting friends, enjoying the sunshine, playing music or going to the nearby outdoor cinema.
I wish I could stay here longer, but next week I have to go back to work!
